Where to Buy the Best Harry Potter World Souvenirs

Wondering what trinket to buy when visiting the Wizarding World? Shopping for Harry Potter souvenirs can be overwhelming, but we have got you covered!

Enjoying the rides, the ambiance, and of course, all the magical treats is awesome.

But trying to figure out which souvenirs will find their way into your suitcase can be a daunting task. They aren’t cheap, after all.

And while we are definitely a family of Potterheads, we do have a budget when we travel to the Wizarding World.

So we decided to put together a guide on the best spots to buy all your favourite magical trinkets!.

Whether you are looking for a sweet treat, a school robe, or it’s something from the Dark Arts you fancy, you definitely won’t be disappointed with the many options!

Should You Purchase Any Harry Potter Souvenirs Before You Go?

Yes! If you are anything like us, we do not have an unlimited budget.

So while there are some items that we know the parks carry that you just can’t find anywhere else, we do our best to buy easily found items to pack in our park bag before we go.

Good Things to Purchase Online

Wizarding-World-Kisd-casting-spells-outside-Olivanders

T-Shirts

Items like t-shirts or funky socks can easily be purchased from a variety of sources (Amazon, Walmart, Spencer’s).

And although they do sell these items inside the parks, getting them before you go will save you a ton of money.

Jewellery

Items like Harry Potter-themed jewellery are also great to order ahead of your trip.

And although you may find a few pieces in the parks (like Hermione’s Time Turner), we did not see very many options.

Harry-Potter-Souvenirs-Time-Turner

I don’t know about you, but I love Pandora charms! Both my daughters and I have charm bracelets that we enjoy adding to when we travel.

And the reason I mention this here is that my younger daughter actually has a Harry Potter Pandora charm bracelet!

Not only does she have several of the characters and other interesting trinkets, but the bracelet itself has a Snitch as the clasp!

It’s pretty cool! Amazon actually has quite a few of the charms too!

Robes

Of course, if you are anything like my kids, you may want to arrive at the parks fully decked out in wizarding attire and ready to play the part of a Hogwarts student.

These of course are items that can be found in the parks, but will definitely cost more.

Wands

Wands are also available for purchase from places like Amazon, but this is one instance where I would recommend waiting until you arrive.

Not only will you not be able to get an interactive wand on Amazon, but the experience of having the wand choose you is just too magical to pass up!

✔️ Good to Know: You also have the option of shopping at Universal’s online shop. Here you can purchase official Harry Potter souvenirs before you get to the parks! You won’t save any money buying online, however. And shipping does come at a cost.

What Are the Best Souvenirs to Buy in the Wizarding World of Harry Potter?

Here are our 5 picks for the best Harry Potter souvenirs, that you can purchase while visiting the Wizarding World.

And since I must not tell lies, I will mention that we have purchased most of these items during one visit or another!

We tend to go a little crazy in the gift shops, especially my younger son, who is a gift shop addict!

Wands

As a Harry Potter fan, a wand is one item that you don’t want to pass up, especially if you have kids!

With several wands available, you can go with a replica of your favourite character’s wand, or choose an Unclaimed wand that aligns with your birth month.

Interactive-wands-Ginnys-wand

Our only recommendation is to spend the extra money and go with an interactive wand.

These wands come with a map and instructions showing the location of interactive displays, which spells need to be cast, and the wrist motions needed to activate them.

Not only does an interactive wand bring the magic of the books and movies to life, but it will also keep kids entertained for hours! And across multiple trips, if you decide to return!

A regular wand, although nice to look at, has no ‘magical ability’ and will cost about $55.

An interactive wand, that allows you to ‘cast spells’ in various places throughout the parks, will cost about $65 ($75 each for the Collector Editions). With such a small price difference, the choice seems rather obvious!

Robes and House Colours

Robes are one of the few items on this list, that we have yet to purchase for our kids (not that they haven’t asked)! And they are actually on our ‘buy’ list for our next visit.

Wizarding-World-sideview-of-toad-show

If your witch or wizard insists on purchasing their school robes, just keep in mind that the hot Florida sun may make wearing them a little uncomfortable.

Wear them first thing in the morning and later in the evening.

Pro Tip: Did you know that there is a secret pocket in authentic Wizarding World robes just for carrying your wand?

Wizarding World - Two kids practicing a spell with their wands

Most shops will carry merchandise to show off your house colours. Hats, socks, pins, sweaters, and shirts are some popular choices.

Our younger daughter chose a Hufflepuff scarf, which she draped over her shoulders for the day.

The scarf was definitely a smart choice, as she has worn it outside the Wizarding World as well. It actually works quite well during our Canadian winters!

Wizarding Candy and Confections

This is one of the Harry Potter Souvenirs that we never miss purchasing!

Since the kids are reading the books, and have memorized all the movies, they are curious to try some Wizarding treats!

Universal Studios Orlando - Hubby holding bottle of pumpkin juice

We have tried several of the treats, including the Chocolate Frogs, Bertie Botts Every Flavoured Beans, Felix Felicis, and Pumpkin Pasties. Not to mention the Pumpkin Juice and the Butterbeer!

Harry-Potter-Souvenirs-Chocolate-Frog-collector-card

With several shops to choose from, there is bound to be a treat that you come across, that you can’t resist trying!

But just a word of advice, don’t leave the Wizarding World without sampling the Butterbeer at least once! It’s to die for!

Wizarding-World-Butterbear-mustache

Wizarding Trinkets

There are a ton of different bits and bobs for doing your wizardry, that you can find in the shops throughout the Wizarding World. If you look closely, you may even find some unexpected treasures!

Our kids always head for the magnets and pins, which they collect. I have a weakness for Christmas ornaments, and Hubby has more of an eclectic taste in his search for the perfect Harry Potter souvenirs.

Harry-Potter-Souvenirs-Many-souvenirs

Some of our favourite finds have been a Howler that you can actually record your own message, a Hogwarts train ticket, a Deathly Hallows key ring, and a Time-Turner in a display case.

Take your time when browsing the shops! There are so many unique things to see. We bet that you will have a tough time deciding which trinket you will take home!

Universal Studios Orlando - Hogwarts Express Ticket

Wizard Currency

This is the second item on this list, that we have yet to purchase.

If you head into Gringotts Money Exchange, not only can you chat with the goblin, but you can exchange US dollars for Galleons.

The Galleons can be spent in both Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade shops or saved as souvenirs.

Wizarding-World-inside-Money-Exchange

And since we are talking about coins… if you are a collector of pressed pennies, you are FINALLY able to find some Harry Potter pennies! Universal introduced these coins at the end of 2020.

Although not located in the Wizarding World, you can find 3 machines in the gift shops at the park entrances.

Each machine has 8 different patterns to choose from.

Where Can I Buy Harry Potter Souvenirs at Universal Orlando?

There are plenty of places where you can pick up Harry Potter souvenirs at Universal Orlando.

Some shops in the Wizarding World are pretty specialized (like Gringotts for currency). Others, however, carry a wider range of trinkets (like Filch’s Emporium).

Harry-Potter-Souvenirs-Deathly-Hallows-key-ring

And don’t forget, you can also purchase Harry Potter souvenirs outside the Wizarding World!

There are several carts and souvenir shops near the entrance to both parks, that also carry Harry Potter gear.

You won’t find all the same items or selections, as in the Wizarding World, but chances are, it also won’t be as busy.

Below, we have listed all the shops where you can find some awesome Harry Potter souvenirs in Diagon Alley.

Shutterbutton’s

We had no idea that you could create our own moving photographs while in the Wizarding World! At Shutterbutton’s you can do just that!

You will be guided through 12 scenes, each taken from an iconic Hogsmeade or Diagon Alley location.

These will then be made into a DVD photo album, that is presented in a collectible Shutterbutton’s tin.

Definitely, a unique Harry Potter souvenir that you won’t find anywhere else!

Sugarplum’s Sweet Shop

Sugarplum’s Sweet Shop not only carries popular wizarding sweets and confections from the movies, but you will also find a great selection of themed merchandise and apparel.

Harry-Potter-Souvenirs-Chocolate-Frog-Felix-Felicis

Wands by Gregorovitch

Wands by Gregorovitch carries a much smaller selection of wands, but you will definitely be able to avoid the crowds often found at Ollivanders.

Don’t worry, you will still find a pretty good selection of replica character wands and interactive wands in this shop.

Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes

Weasleys’ Wizard Wheezes is a novelty joke shop and one of the most popular stores in Diagon Alley.

Universal Studios Orlando - Boxes of Extendible Ears

This shop is filled with a ton of tricks and toys, including Love Potions, U-No-Poo pills, Skiving Snackboxes, Puking Pastilles, and Extendable Ears.

Universal Studios Orlando - Outside Borgin and Burke

Where to Purchase Souvenirs in Hogsmeade

Below, we have listed all the shops where you can find some awesome Harry Potter souvenirs in Hogsmeade.

Honeydukes

Honeydukes Sweet Shop is our favourite place for buying wizarding sweets and treats!

Universal Studios Orlando - Daughter holding Chocolate Frog box

This is where you can purchase treats that were made popular in the books and movies.

Universal Studios Orlando - Daughter holding box of Every Flavour Beans

Chocolate Frogs (with a collectible wizard trading card inside), Acid Pops, Fizzing Whizzbees (chocolate-covered pop-rocks), and Exploding Bonbons can all be found here.

Wizarding World - Cauldron Cakes display

But what we really enjoyed, is that there is also a bakery section offering Pumpkin Pasties, candied apples, a variety of fudge, and Cauldron Cakes.

You can also purchase Pumpkin Juice and other bottled drinks here, as well.

Wizarding World - Bertie Botts Every Flavour Beans Dispenser

The Owl Post

The Owl Post is a stationery shop, carrying quills, ink, seals, and stamps. We purchased one of our favourite souvenirs here – a Howler!

Universal Studios Orlando - Souvenirs from the Owl Post

The Howler actually lets you record a message so that it plays when the recipient opens the letter! Very cool!

You can also find all the best owl-themed souvenirs at this shop.

Wizarding World - Howler from the gift shop

But what makes the Owl Post extra special, is you can have your letters or postcards stamped with an exclusive Hogsmeade postmark.

Ollivanders Wand Shop

Ollivanders Wand Shop in Hogsmeade is where you will find the interactive wand-choosing ceremony.

Here, a witch or wizard is selected to test out wands until they are “chosen” by one.

Wizarding-World-wands-boxes

And just like in the Ollivanders in Diagon Alley, you will find a full selection of both interactive and non-interactive wands, as well as limited edition and wand collections.

Dervish and Banges

Dervish and Banges is where you can purchase everything you need to represent your Hogwarts house.

You will find a pretty decent assortment of wands, robes, scarves, t-shirts, sweatshirts, and ties.

This shop also carries a variety of themed house goods and stationery items, as well as the toy version of the snarling Monster Book of Monsters.

Filch’s Emporium of Confiscated Goods

Located inside Hogwarts Castle, we found this store to have the best selection and biggest variety of Harry Potter souvenirs.

Themed around Argus Filch, the somewhat odd caretaker at Hogwarts, this one-stop-shop features all the prohibited items he’s collected from Hogwarts students over the years.

Harry-Potter-Souvenirs-Many-souvenirs

You can easily find specialty hats, toys, puppets, various mugs, t-shirts, and unique collectibles in this shop.

We purchased Christmas ornaments, stationery, magnets, and a house scarf while in this shop.

And just a heads-up, because this shop acts as the exit for the Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey ride, it does get quite busy.

Carts and Kiosks

You will also find several outdoor merchandise kiosks that sell wands, keychains, collectible pins, and lanyards.

These are located on the path that leads to Hogwarts Castle.

The carts tend to be less crowded than the shops, so it may be a great alternative when buying smaller items.

Tips for Souvenir Shopping at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Orlando

1. Purchase Your Wand First

If you are planning to purchase an interactive wand, this should be your first priority when arriving at the Wizarding World.

Most Muggles (non-magic folks) will head to the rides first, which means Ollivanders will be less busy first thing in the morning.

This also gives you the most time with your wand!

2. Take Advantage of Your Early Park Admission

If you are staying at a Universal Orlando Resort Hotel, use your Early Park Admission to get a jump on the crowds.

Some shops may not be open, but you will be able to get on the standby list for Ollivanders.

Harry-Potter-Souvenirs-Magnet-and-wands

3. Use the Gift Concierge Service

A second perk to staying at an on-site hotel is being able to use the gift concierge service.

You can have your purchases sent back to your hotel, so you don’t have to carry them around all day.

4. Arrange for Pick Up

Even if you are not staying at an on-site hotel, you can still opt to have your merchandise held near the park exit.

This way, you still don’t have to carry your purchases around, and all you have to do is pick everything up on your way out of the parks.

Wizarding-World-Wiseacres

5. Save the Sweets for Last

Purchase your take-home sweets and treats right before you leave. No one likes melted chocolate and candy!

6. Shop at Lunch Time

Shop when the Muggles are on the rides, or having their lunch. Because most shops are smaller, they can get really busy fast.

Shops are pretty quiet early in the morning or during the lunch hour.

7. Shop at the Kiosks

You can usually avoid the crowds altogether if you get your souvenirs from the kiosks and carts.

These are located in Carkitt Market in Diagon Alley, or right outside Hogwarts Castle and Ollivanders in Hogsmeade.

Harry-Potter-Souvenirs-Ticket-notebook-and-magnet

8. Shop Outside the Wizarding World

Harry Potter merchandise can be found at the main gift shops near each of the park entrances.

Most items can also be found in the Universal Studios Store in Universal CityWalk, as well as in every Universal Hotel gift shop.

And as we mentioned before, you can also find it before or after your trip on Universal’s online store.

However, there are certain, exclusive items that can only be found in the Wizarding World.

Best Harry Potter Souvenirs – FAQs

Here are just a few more facts about the best places to buy Harry Potter souvenirs while in the Wizarding World.

What’s better Hogsmeade or Diagon Alley?

When it comes to choosing which park is better to shop for Harry Potter souvenirs, we would have to say that Diagon Alley in Islands of Adventure is the clear winner. Not only does this park have more shops and merchandise to choose from, but the park also has the added fun of trading your money for Gringotts bank notes.

How much money should I bring to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter?

We all know that visiting Universal Orlando can be an expensive adventure. A typical family of four looking to experience the best that the Wizarding World has to offer should budget around $750 for two days of Universal Orlando park-to-park tickets.

And although we do not recommend doing it, skipping one ride, the Hogwarts Express, will let you save about $40 per person by getting single park tickets.

What is the best shop in Diagon Alley?

Ollivanders of course! Ain’t no place better! How could the best shop in Diagon Alley, or the Wizarding World in general, not be Ollivanders?

Final Thoughts

Finding the best keepsakes is definitely a fun part of the experience when visiting the Wizarding World.

Whether you prefer treats or trinkets, the Wizarding shops will provide you with seemingly endless options.

Hopefully, our guide has given you some great ideas as to where to find your perfect Harry Potter souvenirs.
