The 17 Best Restaurants in Disney World for Kids

Are you looking for suggestions on the best restaurants in Disney World for kids? If so, you have come to the right place!

Disney World, and all of its many restaurants, is arguably one of the most family-friendly places on earth.

With that being said, whether it’s because of the variety of food, the ambiance, or whether there is character dining, some Disney eateries just have more appeal to children than others.

And whether you have a Disney dining plan, or are just ‘dropping in’ for the day, you will definitely want to have an idea of where to eat and what is available, ahead of time.

We have compiled a list of some of the best restaurants in Disney World for kids, as voted by families with younger children!

The 17 Best Restaurants in Disney World for Kids

For this post, we have decided to focus only on table-service restaurants.

Families tend to spend much more time in these eateries, as compared to quick-service places.

So it’s pretty important that they are kid-approved in order for the family to have a memorable dining Disney experience.

Disney-glow-drinks

And with so many unique choices for table-service restaurants at Disney World, how do you decide where to go first?

We have put together a list of the best restaurants in Disney World for kids.

The list is organized by park and location, to make things easy when you plan your visit.

**We would like to mention, however, that a couple of the restaurants we chose to feature, are currently unavailable. As a result, please check availability before heading to the parks, in order to avoid any disappointments. **

Best Magic Kingdom Restaurants

Most families who visit Disney World will spend at least one day in Magic Kingdom.

And although there are a ton of restaurants located in this theme park, we have mentioned our faves.

Of course, we always try to mention some character dining options, as these are always popular with the younger crowd.

1. Be Our Guest

Contributed by: Erica Riley of Travels with Erica

Be Our Guest is one of the best places to eat at Magic Kingdom, without a doubt!

Not only is it really kid-friendly, but it is also one of the best places for character dining in Magic Kingdom.

Be Our Guest is located at the back of Fantasyland, and the restaurant is inside the Beast’s castle.

Disney-World-Restaurants-Be-Our-Guest-sign

As soon as you walk into the restaurant, you’re transported into the world of Beauty and the Beast.

There are three dining areas at Be Our Guest: The Grand Ballroom, The West Wing, and The Castle Gallery. Each one is completely unique and themed after a different part of the movie.

The Grand Ballroom is the most popular and regal dining room to eat in.

The Castle Gallery has a statue of Belle and Beast dancing.

Disney-World-Restaurants-Be-Our-Guest-stained-glass

The West Wing is where the red rose is stored, but it’s darker and louder than the other two dining rooms.

If you have a small child who is afraid of the dark or loud noises, you may want to request to be seated in another dining room.

Be Our Guest currently offers a prix fixe menu for lunch and dinner.

The children’s entrees consist of beef tenderloin, chicken breast, and macaroni & cheese, so even the pickiest of eaters will find something they enjoy.

Don’t forget to order the grey stuff for dessert!

Disney-World-Restaurants-Be-Our-Guest-the-grey-stuff

During dinner, the Beast comes out to greet his guests.

He walks through the restaurant, and you can take pictures with him at a dedicated photo location.

The Beast is a very rare character to see in Disney World.

If he is your child’s favourite character, making a dinner reservation at Be Our Guest will guarantee that you get to meet him.

2. Cinderella’s Royal Table

If you have always wanted to know what the inside of the Disney castle looks like, then dining at Cinderella’s Royal Table would check this off your list!

Open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, this dining experience books up extremely quickly.

You will definitely need to have an advanced dining reservation for this experience.

And considering this is definitely the perfect place to eat for kids, you really don’t want to miss out!

And the castle does not disappoint! From the epic Grand Hall to the stone archways, incredible stained glass windows, and majestic medieval flags, your dining experience will be like something out of a fairytale!

Miss-Somersault-proudly-wearing-her-2020-runDisney-ears

Start your day off with freshly brewed Joffrey’s coffee!

Enjoy flaky pastries, avocado toast, Caramel Apple-Stuffed French Toast or Beef Tenderloin and Egg.

You can also order a Traditional Breakfast, consisting of scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon and potatoes.

For adults, lunch or dinner begins with assorted cured meats and cheeses, followed by the main course of roasted chicken breast, beef tenderloin of beef, or the chef’s catch of the day.

For kids, they can expect beef tenderloin, chicken nuggets or macaroni and cheese.

And make sure that you leave enough room for dessert!

With options like coffee pots de creme or the signature, The Clock Strikes Twelve—dark chocolate mousse with a dark chocolate ganache served with a raspberry coulis, you really don’t want to miss out!

3. Liberty Tree Tavern

Contributed by: Tina of Hey Mickey Travel

One of my family’s absolute favourite restaurants in Disney’s Magic Kingdom is the Liberty Tree Tavern.

Tucked in Liberty Square, Liberty Tree Tavern may not be as well known as Cinderella’s Royal Table or Be Our Guest, but we think you’ll agree it is worth the trip!

We love the way the restaurant is a welcoming oasis from the moment you arrive!

As you step inside, you will find an 18th-century, colonial-style inn with a large fireplace that welcomes guests waiting to be seated.

Cast members dressed in colonial-style garb add to the colonial American theme.

Disney-World-Restaurants-Liberty-Tree-Tavern

The restaurant is made up of 6 different dining rooms, each one honouring a famous figure in US history.

Our family likes to spot the archives dotting the room that pays homage to the people they honour.

Once seated at your table, you will feast on an all-you-care-to-eat Thanksgiving-style dinner!

Your lunch or dinner service begins with salads and fresh bread.

Then your servers will begin bringing out platters of turkey, pot roast, pork, and all of the traditional sides for you to enjoy!

Your Thanksgiving dinner is served family-style, so everyone can serve themselves their favourite dishes from the platters.

Disney-World-Restaurants-Liberty-Tree-Tavern-food

If you want more of a particular item, your server will gladly bring you seconds or even thirds.

And save room for dessert!

Their Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake with Chocolate Sauce which is served warm with vanilla ice cream is an amazing treat to end your Magic Kingdom dining experience!

Best Epcot Restaurants

Epcot offers the opportunity for a diverse choice of table-service restaurants. Here, you will find a wonderful assortment of culturally-themed eateries, providing truly unique experiences.

4. Akershus Royal Banquet Hall

Contributed by: Lisa of Planning Away

One of the best restaurants in Disney World for kids is Akershus Royal Banquet Hall.

And although there are a few character dining locations throughout Disney that feature the Disney Princesses,   Akershus is the BEST!!!

Disney-World-Restaurants-Akershus-sign

Akershus is located at Epcot in the Norway Pavilion. It is close to the Frozen Ride and the Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe.

Akershus features visits from Disney princess characters. You will see the following princesses:

  • Ariel
  • Princess Aurora
  • Belle
  • Cinderella
  • Snow White

If this is your first time at Disney World, here is an important tip! You must make a reservation to dine at Akershus.

This is a character dining experience that takes a little planning.

Although it is not as hard to get a reservation as it is at Cinderella’s Castle, it still books out 6 months in advance.

If you check frequently you can probably find a last-minute reservation so don’t lose hope if you didn’t grab the reservation early!

Disney-World-Restaurants-Akershus-princess-meet-and-greet

Although your kids may not be accustomed to the taste of Norway, with its assorted cheeses and Scandinavian seafood, there is an amazing kids’ menu.

This makes both parents and children happy with a more refined adult menu and a standard kids’ menu.

And the food is amazing! (So much better than Cinderella’s Castle!)

Akershus Banquet Hall is the perfect princess character-dining experience your kids will love!

5. Restaurant Marrakesh

**Temporarily Unavailable**

One of our family’s favourite places to eat in Epcot is the Restaurant Marrakesh.

This amazing eatery can be found in the Moroccan Pavilion of the World Showcase.

The restaurant itself is gorgeous, with stained glass chandeliers, intricate mosaic tile art, warm colours, and wonderful music.

Disney-World-Restaurants-Restaurant-Marrakesh-sign

With authentic Moroccan delicacies available, such as roast lamb, shish kebab, couscous and brochette of chicken, you are in for a real treat!

For dinner service, Restaurant Marrakesh allows you to choose from an à la carte menu, or you can select a three-course meal featuring hearty meats, Moroccan pastries and more.

If the kids want something a little less fancy, chicken tenders, pasta, and hamburgers are also available on the children’s menu, in addition to some Moroccan-inspired choices.

Disney-World-Restaurants-Restaurant-Marrakesh-belly-dancer

But one of the best reasons to visit Restaurant Marrakesh is for the amazing entertainment.

Belly dancers not only entertain Guests with a wonderful dance set to live music, but the dancers also get the kids to come up for simple dance lessons.

6. Teppan Edo

Contributed by: Tina of Hey Mickey Travel

When choosing table-service dining options for our family’s Walt Disney World vacations, we really like to focus on restaurants that will also give us a little bit of an experience rather than just serving us food.

One of our favourite restaurants by far for this kind of experience is Teppan Edo in the Japan Pavilion of the World Showcase.

If you aren’t familiar with Teppan Edo, it can be hard to locate. In fact, when my family first dined there, we went around in circles trying to find the entrance!

The restaurant is actually located on the second story of the building that houses the Mitsukoshi Department Store, the main gift shop in the Japan Pavilion.

To access the restaurant, you can take the large staircase that faces out into the courtyard, or there is an elevator at the front of the Mitsukoshi Department Store that you can also utilize.

Disney-World-Restaurants-Tepen-Edo

When you get inside the restaurant you will find several dining rooms, each with 4 tables with built-in grills.

Each table can accommodate 8 guests, so if you have a smaller party, you may be seated at the same table as another small party.

Your meal will begin with a salad appetizer that you can enjoy while your own personal chef cooks your meal in front of you!

You can choose between steak, chicken, seafood or vegetable entrees which are also served with a side of white rice, Udon noodles, and veggies.

In our opinion, the chef really makes the dining experience great!

Cracking jokes and making onion volcanoes add to the experience, which I am sure, will keep your family coming back again and again!

Best Disney Animal Kingdom Restaurants

During our trip to Disney, we kept hearing about the popularity of certain restaurants. But not much was ever said about options in Animal Kingdom.

We did not expect much as a result, but were we ever wrong! We were blown away by the incredible food we found in this park!

7. Yak & Yeti

Located at the base of Expedition Everest in Animal Kingdom, Yak & Yeti Restaurant is a table-service eatery that features incredible dishes from all over Asia.

The Nepalese-style restaurant resembles a quaint village home, decorated with Southeast Asian artifacts.

Disney-World-Restaurants-Yak-and-Yeti-outside

We found Yak & Yeti’s menu to be quite eclectic, with options like sweet-and-sour chicken, ahi tuna nachos, pork potstickers and Kobe beef burgers.

This popular eatery also offers vegetarian options, as well as kid-friendly choices like cheeseburgers and mac and cheese.

As can be expected from most Disney restaurants, the desserts were out of this world!

Disney-World-Restaurants-Yak-and-Yeti-dessert

With options like a chocolate pudding cake, mango pie or fried wontons served with fresh pineapple and ice cream, we had a hard time deciding!

Best Disney Hollywood Studios Restaurants

We found Hollywood Studios had a real eclectic mix of table service restaurants.

The park is smaller, so overall there are fewer eateries. However, you should have no problem finding something your family will love.

8. 50’s Prime Time Café

The 50’s Prime Time Café is a retro-themed restaurant made to look like Mom’s kitchen.

With vinyl chairs and Formica tables, you will feel like you took a step back in time!

In fact, it’s sooo much like Mom’s, that the Cast Members will come around and make sure that good table manners are being adhered to!

Pack a sense of humour and wait for Uncle Fred to come around to give everyone a ‘stern talking to.’

Disney Restaurants - Chocolate Milkshake

And the kids will love that they can watch TV while they eat. But don’t expect to see any of their favourite shows!

In keeping with the theme, you can instead enjoy black-and-white clips from popular prime-time shows from the 1950s.

The 50’s Prime Time Café features all-American comfort foods like meatloaf with mashed potatoes, pot roast, chicken noodle soup and fried chicken.

For dessert, give the warm apple crisp with ice cream a try!

9. Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant

Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant is definitely one of the most unique of all Walt Disney World restaurants.

It combines all the fun of a drive-in movie with an indoor burger restaurant.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is lively and nostalgic, making it a popular choice for families and groups of friends visiting Disney World.

The Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant will definitely transport you back in time to the 1950s.

The restaurant is designed to resemble an outdoor drive-in movie theatre, with tables shaped like vintage cars and a large screen showing old science fiction movies.

Families get to sit in a car and watch silly old Sci-Fi flicks on the MASSIVE movie screen while eating their meals.

And those car-shaped booths are actually pretty cool!

Our kids loved having the opportunity to sit in the FRONT seat while chowing down on some of their favourite fast food.

The menu features classic American fare such as burgers, sandwiches, and milkshakes.

So while the options aren’t out-of-this-world exciting, the food is really good (they have some good vegan options too) and the experience really is one-of-a-kind!

Keep in mind, this restaurant is really popular.

We would definitely recommend making reservations in advance for either their lunch or dinner service, to avoid disappointment.

Best Disney’s Boardwalk Restaurants

10. Trattoria Al Forno

If you are looking for more of a low-key dining experience, the Trattoria Al Forno is a good choice.

This casual Italian eatery is located on Disney’s Boardwalk.

It is also an easy boat ride away from the parks and several resorts.

Trattoria Al Forno is open for both breakfast and dinner.

This cozy little trattoria prides itself on using authentic ingredients and recipes from all over Italy.

Disney-World-Restaurants-Trattoria-Al-Forno-outside

For breakfast, you can expect to find poached eggs with fennel sausage, buttermilk pancakes with a seasonal compote, open-faced omelettes made with fresh mozzarella, tomato and basil, and avocado toast on house-made ciabatta.

For dinner, you will find delicious fried calamari, Caprese salad, authentic pizzas, oak-grilled strip steak, incredible lasagna al Forno, amazing chicken parmigiana and so much more.

Trattoria Al Forno also offers a kid’s menu and an incredible dessert menu.

Be sure to try one of the many Italian desserts, gelatos, and seasonal sweets.

Of course one of the things that sets Trattoria Al Forno apart from the other restaurants, is its extensive wine list.

Disney-World-Restaurants-Trattoria-Al-Forno-donuts

After all, what is a great Italian dinner without an accompanying glass of vino!

With over 60 offerings by the bottle and more than 25 wines by the glass, the over-21 crowd will be sure to find something that tempts their palate.

Best Disney Springs Restaurants

11. T-Rex Restaurant

Contributed by: Shannon of Adventuring with Shannon

One of the best restaurants in Disney World for kids is definitely the T-Rex Restaurant.

Located in the heart of Disney Springs, this amazing dinosaur-themed cafe has something fun to offer everyone.

Based on the same concept as the famous Rainforest Cafe, the T-Rex Restaurant has impeccable theming and makes you feel as if you have stepped into another world.

When you first step into the restaurant, you are greeted by animatronic dinosaurs and prehistoric animals that your kids will love.

There is also an incredible fish tank at the bar for everyone to enjoy.

Disney-World-Restaurants-T-Rex

As the night progresses, there are periodic “meteor showers” that happen inside the restaurant where the animatronics come to life as the meteors flash overhead.

The restaurant has a large menu and offers American-style dining.

The T-Rex Restaurant gets very busy in the evenings so be sure to make reservations in advance or be prepared to wait.

The nice thing is that it is centrally located in Disney Springs, so your wait can also be filled with fun for the whole family to enjoy.

This restaurant offers an incredible experience for your kids.

12. Chef Mickey’s – Contemporary Resort

One of our all-time favourite eateries, we had to include Chef Mickey’s on the list of the best restaurants in Disney World for kids.

Located in the Contemporary Resort, this eatery combines fabulous character dining with incredibly kid-friendly meal options.

Disney-Vacation-Chef-Mickeys

Chef Mickey’s is open for both breakfast and dinner and is an all-you-care-to-enjoy type restaurant.

And because it is located right next to the monorail, it is pretty easy to get to the restaurant from anywhere in Disney World.

Breakfast includes quite the buffet.

There you will find sweet and savoury bread, Scrambled Eggs, Smoked Bacon, Slow-roasted Beef Brisket, Mickey Waffles, Banana Bread French Toast, “Loaded” Potato-Cheese Casserole and “Celebration” Mickey Pancakes.

Disney-Vacation-Character-Dining

The dinner buffet is even more impressive. begin your meal with Chef Mickey’s Caesar Salad or Citrus-Poached Shrimp Salad.

The main course options include potato gnocchi, roasted garlic potato gratin, plant-based faro wheat fried rice, prime rib, and traditional roast breast of turkey and salmon.

And as always, be sure to leave room for the Pastry Chef’s sensational family-style desserts!

My favourites were the macarons! They were to die for!

Disney-World-Restaurants-Chef-Mickeys-dessert

During your meal, be sure to keep an eye out for your favourite Disney character!

Mickey Mouse and some of his pals will make surprise appearances in each of the dining rooms, stopping to wave hello and take pictures with the kids.

We found Chef Mickey’s to be one of the most fun restaurants for kids, no matter what their age.

In fact, we have visited this restaurant several times as our kids have gotten older.

We do recommend making advanced dining reservations for this Disney World dining favourite.

Shenanigans

And in case you are wondering about the shenanigans, we experienced quite a few while dining at Whispering Canyon! For example, Cast Members will NOT put ketchup on the table.

Disney-World-Restaurants-Whispering-Canyon-need-more-ketchup

If you want it, you will need to YELL for it. When you hear the call for ketchup, EVERYONE in the restaurant that has ketchup on their table is required to bring you a bottle!

We ended up with no less than 15 bottles on our table at one point!

Further to this, at any given time during your meal, the Cast Members can call for a round-up of the kids.

The kids are given a wooden hobby horse each and are told to gallop around the restaurant until the music stops!

Children’s menus at Walt Disney World are technically for those Guests aged 9 and under. YES. Children can split meals at Disney World. Kids can also order and share an “adult” entree.

Can adults get the kids’ menu at Disney World?
